Another person was injured during the incident.

Fireworks decapitated a man during New Year’s celebrations in eastern France, the DPA reported, citing officials from the Ba Ren department.

Another man was injured in the same incident, which took place about 30 km south of Strasbourg, near the German border.

According to a local newspaper, the fireworks did not initially explode, but rather exploded just as the two men were approaching.

Since early December, the department has banned the sale and personal use of fireworks. The ban, aimed at reducing the workload of emergency services, is in effect until Monday.
