The largest drug trafficking plant in the Veliko Tarnovo region tore apart the police and prosecutors during a speculation in Gorna Oryahovitsa.

The uniformed men attacked the base of an old chicken factory near the train station, according to preliminary information that people from Sofia and Veliko Tarnovo grow marijuana in special rooms, which are set up as a greenhouse. At around 8 pm on Saturday, the police raided and detained two men in the process of caring for the plants. The handcuffs clicked on the hands of a 30-year-old 32-year-old Sofia resident, known to the police but not convicted, from the town of Arbanassi. The modern drug greenhouse was located in three rooms. In a mail adapted for dry mail, they found about 14 kg of dry vegetable mass, the market price of which is BGN 70,000, said the head of the Interior Ministry, Chief Commissioner Dimitar Mashov. “Two more rooms were found in which there was a complete cycle of growing plants, which included drip irrigation, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, lamps, temperature gauges and maintenance of certain degrees. At the time of the arrest, everything was working, ”said the commissioner. Mashov. During the search, around 1000 plants with a height of 1.50 to 2 m were found. According to investigators, the drug traffickers operated at the base for about 6 months, but the procedural-investigative actions and the path of the finished products to the distributors are still being clarified.

The two avers are considered the basis of the criminal plan. They were detained for 24 hours and so far they have not given any explanation.

“They must be presented as defendants and charged with planting and cultivating plants such as hemp and possession of narcotic substances for distribution,” said supervising prosecutor Katerina Leshtakova.

According to the first text of the Penal Code, they face 2 to 5 years in prison and a fine of BGN 5 to 10,000. For possession of drugs for distribution, the punishment is more severe: from 2 to 8 years in prison and a cumulative fine.

“All this in compliance with the instructions of the Attorney General for decisive action against drug trafficking. Only this week, as a result of good communication between the District Attorney’s Office and the ODMI, this is the fourth drug greenhouse that opens,” he said District Attorney Hristo Hristov.
