“Today, the Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office will present to the court a request for a coercion measure” detention in custody “against the defendant VV, 31,” the prosecution announced.
On October 9, 2020, on Rozhen Blvd. in Sofia, 02 RU-SDVR agents attempted to conduct a police check on the defendant VV, during which he disobeyed and collided with the car he was driving. Official car of the Ministry of the Interior and a police officer from 02 RU-SDVR.
VV was accused of illegally obstructing a police officer in 02 RU-SDVR to perform his duties on the aforementioned date and place, based on article 70, paragraph 1, point 3 of the LMI to carry out verification for establish the identity of a person: a crime according to art. 270, para. 1 of the Penal Code.
VV was charged with criminal responsibility for the fact that on the same date and place he illegally damaged foreign personal property – a car owned by the Ministry of the Interior – a crime according to art. 216, para. 1 of the Penal Code, as well as for causing minor bodily injury to a police officer in 02 RU-SDVR, a crime according to art. 131, para. 2, item 3, supra para. 1 of the Penal Code.
The defendant VV was convicted. The crimes charged with him are intentional and punishable by imprisonment.
Given the high public danger of the act and the perpetrator, on October 10, 2020, a prosecutor on duty from the Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office ordered the arrest of the accused VV for a maximum of 72 hours. Today an application will be submitted to the Sofia District Court for a permanent restraint measure “detention in custody”, prosecutors explained.
