“Our aim is to protect the state borders and the health of the people until the vaccine arrives, so that they can acquire immunity,” Minister Angelov told reporters at Sofia airport, who together with Interior Minister Hristo Terziiski, inspected compliance with order.
An exception was made for all three flights, as Bulgarian citizens were already at the airports and it was impossible to “cancel” them, Minister Angelov explained. Everyone entering from the UK will be quarantined for 10 days.
“What we know about the new strain of the virus is that it is transmitted faster than the new coronavirus and that it is influenced by the new vaccine, which will be launched in Bulgaria on December 27,” added Minister Angelov. He again called on citizens to strictly adhere to measures against the epidemic. An extraordinary council of the EU is expected, which will make decisions valid for all member states, he added.
Minister Terziiski assured that the Border Police will check the information files and establish the facts related to those who arrive in Bulgaria through the land border. After the entry into force of Minister Angelov’s order, 667 citizens arrived in our country on flights from Great Britain. Except for eight of them, all are in quarantine.
