European Volleyball has paid tribute to one of our greatest volleyball players and a coach. Todor Simov died at the age of 91 yesterday and CEV wrote on his official website:
“The Bulgarian Volleyball Federation has announced with great sorrow the disappearance of one of its most legendary players Todor Simov. He was one of the best distributors in the world in the 1950s. He was best selected at the 1952 and 1956 World Championships in Moscow and Paris. In his career he has won many world and European championship medals with the Bulgarian national team. After the end of his career, Simov had a successful career as head coach of the women’s teams in the Cup and Spain, as well as in Italian clubs. CEV joins the Bulgarian Federation with the utmost respect for a magnificent person and expresses its condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Simov. His contribution to Bulgarian and European volleyball in those early and pioneering years will never be forgotten. ” CEV wrote.
