Eric was often photographed high up.
The desire to be photographed alone on the edge of the train tracks and not, as before, clicked by a friend, led to the death of 19-year-old Eric Atanasov. He was hit by an electric shock and fell from a height while taking selfies on abandoned railings in the capital’s Druzhba district on the night of September 19.
Eric has been a fan of extreme photography for years. At the age of 15, the young man uploaded the first photo of this type to his Facebook profile. He stepped on the edge of a rock that rose to an impressive height. Look directly into the lens like it’s not millimeters away from falling. Very soon, less than 2 months later, Atanasov uploaded a new similar photo. It is again on the edge of a rock, but next to it is the sea.
Here are some new risk vaccines. In one of them, Atanasov climbed a metal structure that rose at least 30 m in height. Eric has stepped on the end of one of the irons, it is not supported by any side. A friend of his filmed it enjoying the view: all of Sofia opens up.
In fact, the safest photo in the young man’s profile is at its highest point. He is standing on the edge of the floor of a building, at least 100 meters high, and Eric defiantly smokes. However, it is inside and the window is closed.
On the night of September 19 this year. Eric, two girls and another boy went for extreme new photos. They climbed an old railway bridge in Druzhba. They ignored several warning signs that access was strictly prohibited. In fact, they are the only indicator, the bridge and the path to it are not fenced.
This time Eric decided to shoot himself. The boy told investigators the motive was in the dark. Atanasov was worried that the photo would not turn out well, so he would take a selfie.
He climbed to the edge of the bridge and grabbed his phone. At that moment, however, he was struck by an electric arc. First he called the phone, then the 19-year-old boy. He fell from a height and his friends called an ambulance.
“An ambulance was dispatched immediately. In the eighth minute the team was there, but unfortunately they only found death. Initial information was about a height injury, but at the scene the team found serious traces of burns,” said Katya Sungarska , spokesperson for the Sofia Emergency Medical Care Center.
During the examination it became clear that the current was the cause of Eric’s death. The young man’s heart stopped from the high tension, the autopsy showed.
Immediately after the boy’s death, his parents said goodbye to him on Facebook. “Tonight you left us forever, my love! He stayed at 19, no, I don’t want to believe they left. I am broken, my son, I love you very much, but you know it! I am proud of you, my love. I love you, it hurts, it hurts so much, but I know you’re in a better place, son. Forever in my heart, your mother !! ”Eric’s mother Theodora wrote on Facebook. Her father Emil also posted a status on the social network. “Rest in peace, boy. You will always be in our hearts! We love you,” the man wrote. Both he and his wife exchanged their profile photos and Facebook covers with photos of Eric.
This is another death during selfies at the station. One of the favorite places for this type of photos in our country are abandoned railway stations, warehouses and trains. There have been 9 incidents in the last 3 years, 4 of which ended fatally.
The last case is from last year. A 14-year-old boy from Stara Zagora died after getting into an old car with friends. In 2018, an 11-year-old boy received 65% burns after taking a selfie on a freight train at the station in the town of Trud and died. In 2015, 20-year-old Hristo was killed in an electric arc while riding a locomotive at the abandoned depot at Poduyane station.
