Starting today, the Municipality of Sofia and the Urban Mobility Center will penalize improperly parked cars with a missing ticket. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Transport Christian Krastev, who, together with CGM representatives, gave a symbolic start to this type of control in Cherni Vrah Blvd., cited by BGNES.
Away service means the driver does not have to be in the vehicle to be ticketed. The hazard lights on in the absence of the driver will also not save him from a fine, which depending on the offense varies from 20 to 200 lev.
To exercise control, 10 CGM employees are equipped with a tablet, the system of which is connected to that of the Ministry of the Interior, to have access to the data of the drivers and a printer, with the help of which the receipt is currently printed. The term for payment of the fine is 7 days.
“Until now, the Municipal Police and the Metropolitan Inspection compiled such vouchers, but in the presence of a driver, which was ineffective because often the driver could not be found, the drivers disputed an obvious violation and generally did not perform well enough. Now with the slip absent, within a minute, any unscrupulous driver may be penalized. For us, the priority will be to penalize and control in the main streets and boulevards, where public transport circulates mainly and where there are obstacles for pedestrians and cyclists ”Krastev explained, adding that with the proven effectiveness of this pilot project, it will be expanded and inspections will also be carried out in neighborhoods.
“Within a week you receive this slip of absence. It will be sent to you by mail. During the week you enter the tax system of the municipality of Sofia. The idea is to make the system work and be effective,” he said.
CGM inspector Stefan Mitev clarified that they are strictly defined and depend on the severity of the violation.
“The fines are regulated: parking on the sidewalk costs 50 lev, in a place for the disabled there are 200 levs, wrong parking markings (20 leas, non-observance of a traffic sign) also 20 levs,” said Mitev.
Before BGNES, Nikola Rogachev of CGM emphasized that the fines imposed are not appealed and that is how it is written in the Road Traffic Law. Apart from that, he said there is nothing to appeal against a proven violation, because the slip will be accompanied by evidence.
It was also clear that the fine was issued in the name of the owner of the car and could not be transferred to the person who committed the offense.
