Dozens of young people of Turkish origin stormed a church in Vienna – EU

About 50 young people of Turkish origin attacked the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in the Austrian capital on Thursday, local newspaper Kurir reported, quoted by TASS.

According to the Austrian newspaper, during the attack, the young people chanted “Allah Akbar”, kicking the pews of the church and the walls of the confessional. His actions were recorded on surveillance cameras. Police reached a signal from the trustee, but the attackers managed to escape.

Austria’s Interior Minister Karl Nehammer condemned the incident.

According to the Kronen Zeitung, the church was closed for security reasons.

On October 29, the interior minister ordered police to increase patrols in public places amid attacks in France, BTA reported.

Christians in Austria must be able to practice their faith safely and the authorities will continue to fight resolutely against political Islam, Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz said yesterday in response to the attack on the Viennese church.
