Don’t teach us humanity!

Recalling the massacres in Algeria and Rwanda, the Turkish president said that the French president “cannot lecture us on humanity,” quoted by the Anatolian Agency and FOCUS.

Referring directly to President Emmanuel Macron, Erdogan said: “You don’t know the history. You don’t know the history of France.”

“They cannot lecture us about humanity,” he added, recalling the massacres in Algeria, where about a million people died, and in Rwanda, where 800,000 people died.

“Don’t deal with Turkey and the Turkish people,” Erdogan added.

Earlier on Thursday, before a summit of southern EU members, Macron said: “We must be firm with the Turkish government, not with the Turkish people, who deserve more than the Erdogan government.”

“Turkey is no longer a partner in the Mediterranean region,” the French president said, referring to an alleged incident between a French ship and a Turkish one off Libya.

On Thursday, Turkey condemned Macron for his “arrogant” comments made in “colonial habits.” In a statement, Turkey’s Foreign Ministry said Macron was threatening EU interests with his “individual and nationalist stance.”
