“The state is trying to take all necessary measures, first to combat the infection, protect people and, at the same time, take socio-economic measures.”
This was stated in the study of “NOVA Sunday” by Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev and warned that the strongest pressure from the coronavirus pandemic is expected in December.
“The state must be in place, the state control bodies must monitor compliance with the measures. Society must also make efforts.” Donchev stressed.
He added that enough hospital beds have been opened in the country. It is necessary to improve the coordination and logistics system, that is, the patient must be sent to where he can be treated.
Minister of Health: time to toughen up
“Perhaps the strongest pressure from the pandemic is expected to be in December. This prediction is not based on a repeating pattern. So far we have not encountered this disease, science still knows little about it. But at some point, even without a vaccine, the mere fact that a significant percentage of the population has encountered the disease will limit its spread. But this must go with compliance with all measures, “Donchev emphasized.
The deputy prime minister stated that there are no separate negotiations from individual European countries on the covid-19 vaccine.
“Negotiations are taking place at the EU level. We have a contract that would allow us to access 3 vaccines. The choice of which vaccines is not made by politicians, because I am not a doctor. We do not have an approved vaccine yet. Bulgaria should guarantee Bulgarian citizens a safe vaccine that does not represent a risk to their health, free of charge, and it will be optional.
Again a jump in coronavirus infections, the number of hospital admissions is growing
“Regional measures are taken depending on the infection rate, the number of infected. We have to fight between two evils – on the one hand there is the health risk that no one can ignore, on the other hand we run the risk that a generation will pass a year with serious deficits in his education. We should not stumble into either extreme. The flexible approach is the best, “Donchev thinks.
“The budget is in the National Assembly. From now on, what the government can do is protect the budget that has been presented,” said the deputy prime minister. “Its main focus is anti-crisis measures: the additional costs for the system health, additional social costs, additional costs in support of businesses. The art here was how to combine traditional priorities with new challenges. “
“There are measures that are extraordinary: 1000 extra leva for each doctor and nurse who are in the front line. This measure will continue for as long as necessary. At least for the moment it is covered 100% by the European Social Fund. This is the financing As much flexibility as possible was demonstrated, all possible sources of funding were used so that all systems, including the health system, could be financed as much as necessary, “explained Donchev.

The deputy prime minister also commented on the pan-European plan for economic recovery from the coronavirus crisis.
“The sooner the final version of the plan is submitted to the EC, the sooner it will be approved. Bulgaria will have access to funding faster. The deadline is April 2021. My ambition is to send the final version of the plan to colleagues by the end of December, early January. The plan is not to spend money, it is a unique opportunity not only for economic recovery, but also to create long-term prerequisites for growth and reforms, “Donchev said.
