Pepa Devedjieva – the leader of KOD shared her opinion about the hospital and how the institution is dealing with the conditions of a pandemic after the accommodation of their relatives in MHAT “St. Mina”. Plovdiv24.bg publish the text without editorial intervention:

“In the COVID ward of MHAT” St. Mina “it does not have basic equipment and the doctors evaluate the result of the therapy they apply. Now I understand why the doctors of this hospital at the beginning of the epidemic did not want to have a room there to treat coronavirus patients. They knew there were no conditions and they were right.

I was faced with the situation in the hospital when my aunts and cripples with this diagnosis were housed there a few days ago. If a patient is admitted there with a blood oxygen level below 90, it turns out that he does not have the necessary equipment to help him. If you need to be intubated, you must be transported to another location. There are not even masks to supply oxygen, this is done through tubes that go through the nose, there is no ultrasound to track what is happening to the lungs. I asked a doctor how they evaluated what was happening to patients and how they decided how much oxygen to administer, and he replied, “By eye.” There isn’t even an anesthesiologist in this room.

I do not mention the names of the doctors, because they are probably true professionals, but they do not have the necessary equipment. The 21st century is, how can it be treated in this way, and is it a dangerous disease and quite unknown to medicine? I had to transfer my family members to another hospital and I want to warn people what to expect if they are sent to St. Mina Hospital.

The doctors of this hospital refused to open a coronavirus room there because they were aware of the situation, but the Municipal and Regional Crisis Staff insisted and it happened. I understand the public need in a big city like Plovdiv to have many wards, but people expect that all of them receive adequate medical care, and this is not the case.

Hospitals are commercial enterprises and must make a profit, but when human lives oppose them in an epidemic, it is inhuman and immoral. ”
