The 24-year-old patient from the town of Kamen, who lost the battle with COVID-19, was admitted to the Gorna Oryahovitsa Emergency Room on 6 November at around 12:30 p.m. with complaints, helplessness, general fatigue, dry cough and shortness of breath. A chest X-ray was assigned, which reported a picture of severe bilateral bronchopneumonia, type COVID-19, according to MHAT “St. Ivan Rilski” – Gorna Oryahovitsa.

ECG and blood tests were performed, and the doctor on call referred the patient for hospitalization. The patient was admitted to the COVID ward, where he was monitored, tested by PCR and immediately began the appropriate treatment according to the protocol: oxygen supply, anticoagulant therapy, broad-spectrum antibiotic therapy, corticosteroids, and symptomatic therapy.
Before being admitted to the hospital, the patient was treated at home for 10 days with Azax 500 mg, Erdomed, paracetamol and vitamins prescribed by his personal physician. He was also obese.
Due to the deterioration of clinical and laboratory indicators in the context of optimal therapy, the patient was transferred to the intensive care unit, where he was intubated for two days. Despite the efforts of the medical teams, the patient passed away at 5:20 am on November 9.
