Dead birds fall from the sky over Bulgaria and Europe

The dozens of dead birds on the Burgas beach, BLITS reported days ago, alarmed the citizens of Burgas.

His concern is related to frequent and shocking cases in our country and around the world. Thousands of swallows fell from the Aegean sky, and almost 200 dead ducks were found on the beaches of Denmark.

As the media reports, Dead birds began to fall from the sky across Europe and no one can explain why this happens. Experts are convinced that the strong winds observed in the past three years have killed huge numbers of swallows and other birds flying to Europe from Africa.

The dead birds found in Burgas have proven to be of the very rare and endangered species of the Mediterranean petrel. They are almost never found in our country, so people do not recognize them.

The beach where they meet is Atanasovska’s hair between Burgas and Sarafovo, and Kristina Kostova accidentally runs into the birds.

“The first reaction was: one bird, a second bird, and when four birds were converted, I thought it was a kind of poisoning,” Christina told bTV.

Environmentalists are immediately alerted. There are no spots on the birds, no marks on the fishing nets. “At least the ones I saw had no visible wounds,” recalls Christina.

“They were already in a state where we couldn’t take them to investigate or report to the Regional Inspectorate,” says Radostina Tsenova, the Foundation for Biodiversity.

The birds are of the species of Mediterranean petrels, most of their lives were spent on the high seas. The migratory flow passes through the Burgas lakes.

This spring alone, Mediterranean petrels, which have included ornithologists near Burgas, are 24,000. One of the birds threatened with extinction on the planet. There are around 100,000 copies in the world.

“It is normal for 24,000 birds to have sick, elderly individuals who die. One of the few birds on earth,” said BSPB ornithologist Dr. Peter Yankov. There are also explanations for the thousands of swallows killed in Greece.

“The swallows are now more exhausted because they have already overcome the two biggest obstacles on their way from Africa to Europe, the Sahara and the Mediterranean; they have traveled almost 5 thousand kilometers without eating, arriving in Greece where they should to be warm and eat, It’s cold there naturally, many of them will die, “says Dr. Yankov.

Dead swallows are also reported in Burgas.

“Upon returning home, at the corner of the two entrances, I saw 8 swallows dead. We tracked it down so there were no nests destroyed and so they died, but we saw that there were actually no nests destroyed,” says Toshko Ivanov.

The cause of his death is unclear as they have not been investigated. For environmental inspectors to investigate, you must report to the Ecoinspector’s 112 telephone number or the green telephone number.
