President Rumen Radev made a statement to the media at 7 pm after the escalation of tensions from last night’s protests.

The protest is the only possible and justified civil action against the hijacking of the Bulgarian democracy. It is everyone’s duty to say no to violence, repression and anarchy, emphasized President Rumen Radev.

According to him, the immediate resignation of the cabinet is the only way out of the crisis.

“The authorities are leading provocations that have led to massive and disproportionate police violence against protesters and journalists. Dozens of people have been injured, both among citizens and among the forces of order,” stressed the head of state.

The actions of the ruling majority not only bring about civil peace, but deepen the crisis and make Bulgaria hostage to its own survival, the head of state said. He called on the protesters and the security forces “to remain calm and not be carried away by a scenario for the survival of a government compromised by corruption and violence.”

In the eyes of the Bulgarians, parliamentary support for a new Constitution is negotiated: beaches are concessioned, jobs are promised, money is distributed.

Rumen Radev,

President of Bulgaria

In the eyes of the Bulgarians, parliamentary support for the approval of a ridiculous constitution is being negotiated, and the mechanisms are the concession of beaches, the promise of positions and the distribution of money, he added. According to him, attempts to change the basic law are criminal meddling in the future of Bulgaria and these actions risk leading the country to a dead end in the long term.
