“The GERB has the absolute right to defend its positions and those of our voters. We were legitimately elected in the last elections and according to the laws and the Constitution of the country we have the right to exercise the mandate until February. There is a protest with several demands , between the government and the attorney general, led by Rumen Radev, who turned out to be the main spokesperson for the protest. ” This was stated by the president of the GERB General Assembly, Dr. Daniela Daritkova, quoted by Channel 3, in a regional assembly in Smolyan, which was attended by MEPs Asim Ademov and Andrey Novakov, regional coordinator Nikolay Melemov, parliamentarian Dr. Krassimir Sabev, municipal leaders and mayors. GERB, announced the GERB – Smolyan press center.

“The provocations do not stop and aim to irritate the situation, but the situation on the yellow cobblestones is radically different also in other settlements. Here people think rationally and understand all the challenges, such as the results of the coronary crisis in the months of winter. The social and economic consequences have not yet reached their maximum scale. All this requires that the State be in place and react appropriately, that it have a National Assembly that can change the laws to adapt to all the challenges of the crisis ”Said the GERB president.
He commented that there is some misunderstanding as a result of speculation about the idea of convening a Grand National Assembly. “This protest began with the request to convene it, and when we announced it and said that once society is divided, there is a need for a new social contract. The protesters then decided that it was not necessary to convene the Supreme National Assembly and stated that the GERB wanted to buy time with this measure. This is not the case, “said Dr. Daritkova.

According to her, the idea of organizing the state in a different way and the relations between the three authorities – legislative, executive and judicial, can occur precisely through the discussion of a new Constitution. “All the speculations that have brought many dividends to the extra-parliamentary forces, for example by reducing the number of deputies, can only be resolved through the Supreme National Assembly,” he said.

The President of the General Assembly of the GERB commented that 30 years after the democratic changes, our Constitution must adapt to the current demands of the development and state of democracy. “And that’s why we presented a draft, but this draft is presented only by the requirements of the Constitution. It explicitly states that if we want to convene the Supreme National Assembly and seek a majority of 160 deputies, this must go with a draft of a new Constitution. This project will not be the Constitution, which would be approved by the next Supreme National Assembly, but we are obliged to present such a project and we did so thanks to the signatures we collected, ”explained Dr. Daritkova.

He added that many important laws are now being passed, including to overcome the crisis, but the opposition is trying to create scandals and misinterpret everything.

According to her, the other speculation is that with the introduction of ballots, GERB intends to falsify the elections.

“We cannot categorically rely on the machines in the way they were adopted in the previous elections to guarantee the right to vote for all Bulgarian citizens. No one can guarantee that the machine will not be damaged and that it will be possible to replace it in the appropriate section. We have a report from the CEC, which raised very serious problems with the use of machines in the elections to the EP. That is why we had to give the opportunity to vote by ballot so that each citizen can exercise their right to vote, “explained Dr. Daritkova.

She insists that the GERB parliamentary group is in good shape, with a maximum presence in the plenary hall. Works well with coalition partners, albeit sometimes in emotional dialogue. She believes that the government should fulfill its mandate, hold regular elections and prepare the party for them.
