Customs officers found a large quantity of contraband gold jewelry

Customs officials from the Directorate General for “Customs Intelligence and Investigation” found 967.67 grams of gold jewelry during an inspection of a car at the Lesovo customs checkpoint. driven by a Swedish citizen who traveled with his family from Turkey to Sweden via Bulgaria.

The driver and the passengers have declared to the Bulgarian customs that they have nothing to declare. During the subsequent customs inspection, the customs officers found a total of 967.67 grams of yellow metal jewelry in two bags with personal effects: rings, bracelets, earrings and others.

Expertise on the products has shown that they are made of 14 and 22 karat gold and have a total value of BGN 93 090. The smuggled gold jewelry was seized. A pre-trial process has been initiated in the case, which is conducted by an investigating customs inspector under the supervision of the Yambol District Prosecutor’s Office.
