Goalkeeper Iliya Shalamanov has received a call-up from the Australian under-20 soccer team. The 18-year-old talent was born in Brisbane. At the age of 3 he returned to Petrich with his family.
Shalamanov is owned by CSKA. During this season he was loaned to Litex.
“The call for the Australian youth team occurred on December 17. I personally called CSKA general manager Stoycho Stoilov, who gave his consent and wished me the best of success,” said the young man.
“My agent sent me videos of my matches in Australia. The local soccer union looked at everything carefully and was satisfied with what they saw. They contacted me, explained the program of participation in control matches and qualifiers for the World Youth Championship in the period from February 14 to March 20, 2021 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where we will play three friendly matches against the teams of Uzbekistan, Bahrain and Japan and qualifying matches for Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and Laos ”, explained the goalkeeper.
The U-20 World Championship will be held in Indonesia from May 20 to June 12, 2021.
