CSKA will play Roma, Young Boys and CFR Cluj in the group stage of the Europa League. That determined today’s draw. The Reds begin their campaign on October 22 and the official schedule for the race’s group stage is expected to be released soon.
CSKA have so far faced Roma twice in European tournaments. The first was in the 1983/84 season in the CASH tournament. Then, the “reds” hosted the first match of the round of 16 and lost 0: 1. The goal was scored by Francesco Graziani in the 80th minute. In the second leg in the Italian capital, Roma won again with a minimum of 1: 0. Then Falcao got it right in the 62nd minute.
In the 2009/10 season, CSKA meet again their famous rivals, this time in the group stage of the Europa League. The first match in Italy ended successfully with 2: 0 for the hosts. The hits are the work of Stefano Okaka-Chuka and Simeone Perotta. In the second leg in Sofia, Roma won with a clear 3-0, with Alessio Churchi twice and Filippo Scardina.
On the other hand, CSKA have never competed with their other two opponents in the group: the Swiss Young Boys and the Romanian CFR Cluj.
