COVID-19 outbreak in a social home in Tvarditsa – Issues in development

34 samples positive for COVID-19 were reported during the last 24 hours at the social home in Tvarditsa, announced the Regional Crisis Headquarters.

31 of the infected people are staff, the remaining 3 are users who were in contact with the two previously established cases among employees.

The treatment of sick users will be carried out on site, under the supervision of medical teams. The sick staff are in home quarantine.

An organization has already been created to study all residents and the results of the staff PCR tests are expected to be announced, the Regional Crisis Staff also announced.

The social institution covers two structures: a home for men with mental retardation and a home for men with mental disorders. The total number of users is 220. They are cared for by more than 100 members of medical and non-medical staff.

Another 22 residents of the district, most of the municipality of Sliven, were diagnosed during the last 24 hours. No one died.

Currently, active cases are 500. In the municipality of Sliven there are 317, 270 of them in the city, the rest – in 18 villages. In the municipality of Nova Zagora – 129, 72 in the city, the rest – in 16 villages. In the municipality of Tvarditsa – 38 – 15 in the city, the rest – in 5 settlements. In the municipality of Kotel – 16, 4 in the city, the rest – in 4 villages.
