It is not yet clear whether any of the company’s Bulgarian workers are infected. The slaughterhouse employs a total of 300 people, mostly from Eastern Europe. All employees of the company, as well as their families, were examined on Friday for breaking the chain, local health authorities said.

“We still don’t know how much the virus affects them,” the doctors said.

It is not clear what caused the outbreak. It is not yet known if the company will close, it will depend on the results of the tests.

The workers had numerous contacts with both family and friends, and some traveled to their homeland. The main problem is that the company’s people live in 13 different municipalities in the district, if the virus has spread it could lead to the quarantine of the entire area, the authorities warned.
