COVID-19 IN OUR COUNTRY: A record number of hospitalized, but without tightening the measures

Despite the second wave of coronavirus that floods the world, there will be no massive closure in our country. This was announced today by the Minister of Health, Prof. Kostadin Angelov.

917 patients were hospitalized. There have not been that many hospitalized since the beginning of the epidemic. There are 56 people in the intensive care unit. However, the health authorities assure that the capacity of the hospitals is sufficient. Currently, 11% of beds for COVID-19 patients are occupied. Despite the growth, the measures will not toughen up.

As of last week, there were fewer than 800 coronavirus patients in the hospital.

“The system has beds and doctors. In recent days, employment has increased from 10% to 11%. And in intensive care units it is 4% to 4.8%. So these numbers at the moment give us that assurance that we do not change the measures in Bulgaria, “said Professor Kostadin Angelov.

Meanwhile, it has become clear that there is a communication problem between schools and regional health inspectorates. To avoid delays in quarantine, chat groups have been created.

“They will have a fast connection through the regional education departments,” Minister Krassimir Valchev said.

And frontline employees will continue to receive a monthly bonus of BGN 1,000, provided there is an epidemic emergency situation.

Forecasts suggest that the situation will only get worse.

“Especially with the appearance of the flu at the end of the year, probably in January. If we do not observe these basic measures, things will not go well”, believes Acad. Bogdan Petrunov.

Due to a sick professor, Sofia Theological Seminary switched to distance learning. An employee of the Ministry of Justice was also diagnosed with coronavirus.
