The Interior Minister, Hristo Terziiski, assured in an interview with Nova TV that retirees who do not follow the so-called green commercial corridor to buy food or basic medicines will not be fined, but warned. He stressed that this provision (described in an order from the Minister of Health and which came into effect on Thursday morning), which caused discontent among buyers, and lawyers said they would challenge in court, is made for citizens to comply with. , not law enforcement.

The minister was not entirely clear: on the one hand, he emphasized that the managers of the points of sale are obliged to create an organization to comply with the order, which restricts people over 65 years to buy only between 8 and 10 o’clock. Retail establishments do not have the right to verify people’s identification cards to determine their age.

Terziiski said the police first warn and only then “take action.” In 10 days, 10,000 warnings were issued to people not using a trademark where it is required. Since March, a total of 24,195 crimes related to the coronavirus have been issued, 80% of which are for not wearing a mask. The minister’s impression is that in recent months people have observed the quarantine much more strictly than in the spring.
