Although in recent weeks doctors have reiterated that the problem in the country is not the lack of COVID beds in hospitals, but of specialist doctors, today Prime Minister Boyko Borissov reiterated that there are 46,000 beds available for active treatment.

“So, as a country with hospital beds, we have a huge base. But you have to focus on people with comorbidities, they have to go to the hospital. Because these 14 days for coronavirus patients are very difficult,” said the Prime Minister in a work meeting. with Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, Health Minister Kostadin Angelov, Minister of Labor and Social Policy Denitsa Sacheva and Finance Minister Kiril Ananiev.

“As a government, we will provide all the types of vaccines that the EC offers,” said the prime minister, and ordered the health minister to draw up a plan to vaccinate populations at risk.

Sacheva pointed out that next year packages with food, hot lunch and patronage care will also continue to be provided, for which more than BGN 85 million have been allocated to municipalities. It reported that 120 million BGN will be allocated from the operational programs for more remuneration of doctors and physicians
Frontline staff.

Borissov assured that if the economy does well next year, the Interior Ministry employees, who are currently protesting in front of the National Assembly with a demand for a 30% increase in wages, will be further compensated. Minister Ananiev added that for the planned 15% increase in their salaries from January 1, the necessary resources are provided by the restructuring of expenditures and transfers to the central budget.
