If vaccination in Bulgaria reaches 50% of the EU target by the end of June, there will be no more serious epidemic. If we get to 70%, there will be no epidemic at all. This was announced to Nova TV by Angel Kunchev, Chief State Health Inspector. Your comment is on the additional vaccines provided yesterday for various countries, including Bulgaria. “The idea is to vaccinate 50% at the end of June,” he said. So far, the percentage of vaccinated Bulgarians is 6.5% compared to an average of around 16.5% for the EU.

According to him, interest in vaccination is growing as proof of this was the desire of people in phases 1 and 2 of the vaccination plan to receive immunization, since initially the number of applicants was 25-30% .

Kunchev supports the idea that doctors should be required to get vaccinated, following the example of Italy. He noted that the idea was also being discussed in many other countries. He gave the example that doctors are required to have a hepatitis B vaccine so as not to be a threat to their patients. According to him, this could start as a practice when it comes to hiring doctors.

He announced that of the approximately 13,000 people who have died so far from covid, not a single one has been vaccinated, and there are isolated cases of being admitted to the hospital after the first dose of the vaccine.
