Seven new measures, including the extension of the epidemic emergency situation until March 31, 2021, were announced by Health Minister Kostadin Angelov at an extraordinary briefing of the National Operational Headquarters after a meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov .

Among the measures is the suspension of attendance at all universities, schools, kindergartens and nurseries, as well as all forms of extracurricular activities and activities of interest. All sporting events are prohibited, as well as the gathering of many people, including privately organized celebrations. The ban on visiting discos, piano bars and nightclubs continues.

The work of food and entertainment establishments is stopped: restaurants, fast food establishments, entertainment and game rooms, beverage establishments, cafes, bars and others. They can only work for home deliveries.

The work of all non-food stores, including shopping centers, with the exception of pharmacies, drug stores, postal service providers, banks, insurers, payment service providers is stopped. The organization and realization of internal and external excursions is suspended. There are no restrictions on the activity of public transport.

The measures will be discussed in the Council of Ministers and will come into effect on Friday, November 27.

The aim of the new measures is to give doctors “air to swallow”, the minister said. There are more than 2000 sick doctors, 30% of them are doctors and 32% are nurses, said the director of “Pirogov” Asen Baltov at the briefing.

If the measures work, every effort will be made to consider loosening them by Christmas, Angelov promised. The result is expected in 21 days.
