A dress rehearsal will be held at 4 p.m. with everyone involved in the logistics of the expected coronavirus vaccines, Health Minister Kostadin Angelov told reporters. At this time he will hold a meeting with the directors of the regional sanitary inspections. Angelov once again expressed his willingness to be the first to get vaccinated. The first shipment of vaccines will be about 9,750 doses, which will be enough to vaccinate about 4,300 people (since they are administered twice in 21 days), explained the minister. They will arrive on December 25 or 26, and will initially be stored in a special BulBio refrigerator. Vaccination will begin simultaneously on December 27 in three major cities with declared first-phase readiness doctors.

“We are not expecting vaccines, we are preparing for them,” he said. He noted that it remains to be decided who will be the first to get vaccinated, but he is willing to volunteer to show all Bulgarians that the vaccine is safe. “I want to show that I believe in the vaccine as a goal and an achievement of science. Today we will decide how to approach it,” he added.

Angelov explained that Bulgarian doctors continue to express their desire to be included in the vaccination lists.

He assured that the logistics of the vaccines, which will arrive in Sofia, are guaranteed, noting that they will be transported in containers with dry ice.
