I have always strived to be an honest and honorable person, to follow the rules and the law. And just because this mistake happened in my life doesn’t make me a bad person. This was shared by the convicted businesswoman Milena Miteva in front of Nova TV.

A few days ago, Miteva de Pazardzhik received a suspended sentence following an agreement with the Special Prosecutor’s Office. She was found guilty of conspiracy to drain virtual currency worth more than BGN 1 million.

Sentence for participation in the withdrawal of cryptocurrencies worth more than 1.1 million BGN.

In 2018, Pazardzhik’s wife came under the scrutiny of CDCOC’s Cybersecurity Department. The reason: a sign from a Polish platform. The investigation against Milena Miteva and two other men is for draining cryptocurrencies.

Some of our defendants used the accounts, having the passwords and login name on the respective account. Thus, through several transaction confirmations, it turned out that they received, through numerous clicks, an enormous amount of Futurocoins, explained the prosecutor of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office Milko Parvanov.

The businesswoman used other people’s profiles to maintain her identity. She pleaded guilty. Therefore, she received a suspended sentence, a BGN 6,000 fine and probation.

“I can’t say how virtual currencies will develop. This is something new, a new technology. Yes, some people believe that this is a new model of the payment system and the financial world. Others are skeptical,” added Miteva.

Prosecutors say they have effectively prevented damage to the Polish company. “The seized cryptocurrency available in the accounts was returned to the Polish company. Approximately BGN 3.5 million,” Parvanov commented.

Years ago, Milena Miteva was a candidate for deputy and municipal councilor, without success. Due to this investigation, she spent seven months behind bars. So she decided to study law.

“Milena Miteva is an average woman who lives in Pazardzhik and runs a private business,” she said.

According to data from the Mercantile Registry, the woman owns two companies. One of them is insolvent. Now, however, her concerns are focused elsewhere. “I felt upset not only because my three names were mentioned in media publications. My personal photos in a bathing suit appeared in some media,” Miteva said.

The case against the other two defendants of the businesswoman continues.
