Collapse of the money that Bulgarians working abroad send to their relatives in Bulgaria. This is demonstrated by data from the Bulgarian National Bank.

The discount is more than 2 times.

If during the first half of last year emigrants sent to our country – 636 million euros, from January to June 2020 they managed to transfer only 266 million euros.

The reason, according to experts, is the coronavirus, which has significantly affected the world economy.

In the context of collapsed financial flows, statistics also report that in the first 6 months of the year most of the funds came from the United States, more than 50 million euros.

And then there are countries like Spain and the United Kingdom.

Tsvetana and Stoyan’s son and grandson are abroad. One is in Germany, the other in Holland. Their son helps them with work abroad.

Now they both feel that aid is decreasing and they explain it with a covid crisis.

“Because now, due to the coronavirus, they are given nine hundred euros there and it is already more crowded. Prices have risen in Germany and everywhere else ”.

Due to the less aid, Tsveta and Stoyan will probably cut their expenses. Economists expect thousands of households to reduce their consumption of goods and services:

“Because the state has such a low consumption of this money, it is deprived of the value added tax on purchases, special taxes on all other opportunities that the state has to collect revenue,” said Rumen Galabinov, an economist.

The fall in foreign money mainly affects the poorest households, which, however, have more difficulties to cover their expenses, experts say.
