Code orange and danger of flooding in the country

[ad_1]

Heavy rains are expected in many parts of the country

During the day, rains are expected throughout most of the country and heavy snowfalls are expected in the mountains of southwestern Bulgaria and Central Stara Planina. Another Mediterranean cyclone passes over the Balkan region. For the day, the amounts will be most significant in the Rhodopes and on the southern slopes of the central and eastern Stara Planina. In the Rhodopes around Zlatograd, Dzhebel, Kirkovo, as well as in the Balkan mountains on the slopes above Sliven, the forecast is for a rainfall of about 100 liters per square meter in 24 hours.

Yellow and orange hazard codes are in effect for many areas of the country. In the southern and southeastern areas, the code is orange for heavy rains and strong winds with gusts exceeding 50 kilometers per hour. In northwestern areas, there is a danger of ice formation in the early hours of the day, when temperatures in many places will be around and slightly below freezing.

As a result of the expected precipitation, there are preconditions for spills in some rivers in the code orange areas. Spills are possible along the Struma, Mesta, Maritsa, Tundzha and Arda rivers, as well as some of their tributaries.

The weather in the hottest part of the day will be mild with temperatures between 5 and 15 degrees, colder in northwestern Bulgaria. A brief break in rainfall and even a break in the clouds from southwest to northeast is expected on Friday. However, at night, our country will again fall under the influence of a cyclone with a new wave of precipitation, mainly rain on the plains. It will snow in the mountains to the southwest and west of Stara Planina.
