Liverpool beat Tottenham 3-1 away in a Premier League 20th round match. The Merseysiders showed a championship spirit and completely outplayed José Mourinho’s team. The victory lifted the “reds” to 4th place in the standings, 4 points behind leaders Manchester City, which, however, is one game less.
Liverpool’s goals were scored by Roberto Firmino (45 + 4), Trent Alexander-Arnold (47) and Sadio Mane (65). Pierre-Emil Heuberg (49) scored for the hosts. Two more goals were canceled after the intervention of the VAR, one for both teams. After the break, the Spurs were forced to play without their star Harry Kane, who was forcibly replaced due to an ankle injury.
The beginning of the match was more than dizzying. In the second minute, “Merseyside” failed to take the lead after an excellent attack. Sadio Mane came out in excellent position after a double pass with Salah, but his final shot was disappointing.
60 seconds later the ball was in the visiting net, but the goal was disallowed after the intervention of the VAR. Hyun-Min Son was taken out by Harry Kane face to face with archer Alison and he was not mistaken, but the video showed that there was an ambush in the building of the attack.
Tottenham fans shuddered in the 14th minute when Harry Kane landed on the grass after a blow to Tiago’s ankle. The intervention of the medical staff calmed the hosts and the star of the “spurs” remains on the field.
In the 21st minute, the two teams exchanged whirlwinds again. First, Firmino stayed to put the ball in front of the penalty area, but his shot fell directly into the hands of Loris. The counterattack put Hyun-Min Son alone against Alison, but he couldn’t beat Alison either.
Harry Kane was back on the field in the 34th minute after a collision with Henderson. The English citizen grabbed his ankle again and pain was written on his face. However, in less than a minute he was already in the game.
Rodon’s grandmaster split in the penalty area against Manet in the 36th minute did not allow Liverpool to threaten the spurs guard Loris. Again, the Senegalese found himself in shooting position in the 41st minute, but this time Loris showed class and saved.
While everyone was waiting for the end of the first half, Liverpool took the lead. In the last seconds of the referee’s 4-minute extra time, Roberto Firmino opened the scoring, spotting a parallel center from Manet on the left.

The second half began as the first ended, with a goal from Tottenham’s goal. In the 47th minute, Mane’s individual advance ended with a cannon shot to the ground, which was killed by Loris, but in overtime Trent Alexander-Arnold was ruthless: 0: 2.
Less than two minutes later, Heuberg returned the “spurs” to the game. With a powerful shot outside the penalty area, she left no chances for Alison – 1: 2.
In the 56th minute Salah hit Tottenham’s door for the third time, but the goal was disallowed by Firmino’s hand at the start of the attack.
The guests continued to attack and in the 65th minute Sadio Mane was in the arms of his teammates. Rodon could not cope with an insidious cross from Alexander-Arnold on the right and Manet with a powerful blow hit Loris 1: 3. This goal practically discouraged the “spurs” and they did not find the strength to fight even for the point .
