Bulgarian citizens who are on the territory of Greece and are not registered as permanent residents will need to obtain a certificate from our embassy in Athens or from our Consulate General in Thessaloniki if they wish to return to Bulgaria by car, passing through various areas. reported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, referring to his Greek colleagues. In connection with the frequent inquiries of Bulgarian citizens, our embassy in Athens had a telephone conversation with the head of the Crisis Management Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece to clarify the procedure and the necessary documents for the return of our compatriots to Bulgaria and its transfer to our embassy. to obtain consular services.

In response to questions, it was clarified that the certificate must contain the data of the Bulgarian citizens, the address where they resided during their stay in Greece, the permanent address in Bulgaria, the date and time of departure, the data about the mark, the model, registration number and border control post, through which they will leave the country.

Bulgarian citizens who wish to leave the country by plane do not need a certificate. In this case, the purpose of the trip is certified by an identification card or passport and a purchased ticket.

According to the Greek authorities, it is currently impossible to transfer citizens outside the administrative areas where our embassy in Athens and our consulate general in Thessaloniki are located. Our compatriots must wait for the measures to be relaxed.

Exceptions to the restrictions are allowed only in cases where it is necessary to travel to / from the workplace, for which it is necessary to present a certificate from an employer, travel for health reasons and move to the place of permanent residence (once ).

Exceptions include citizens who must obtain a temporary passport to return to Bulgaria. For this, the pertinent documents are required to prove the reason and the need to travel outside the corresponding area.

We remind you that currently the practices to limit the coronavirus in the different administrative districts of Greece differ and there is a risk that Bulgarian citizens who do not travel to one area will be fined in another.

They may also be fined, without prejudice to the presentation of a document from the embassy that certifies a scheduled meeting in the mission for causes that fall within the scope of these admissible exceptions.
