The Bulgarian soccer team is in a group with Italy, Switzerland, Northern Ireland and Lithuania in the European qualifiers for the Qatar World Cup in 2022.
The national team was together with the Italians in the qualifiers for the world championships in 2010 and 2014 and Euro 2016. In official matches against the opponent, the Bulgarians have six defeats, four draws and one victory, which came in 1968.
The last time the national team qualified for a major forum was in 2004. The team was recently relegated to the third division of the Nations League, and on Monday the football union launched the procedure to select a new coach. .
According to the program, the games will be played between March and November next year. The winners of the ten groups will qualify for the World Cup. The runners-up and two teams from the Nations League will go through the playoffs to determine the last three odds.
