In Europe, our country ranks 24th in number of coronavirus patients with 43.19 per 100,000 and seventh in mortality with 1.19 per 100,000. Angel Kunchev.

Data is from the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control for the last 14 days.

“Despite the significantly higher number, Bulgaria retains its place both in terms of morbidity and mortality, because there is a significant increase in cases across Europe,” Kunchev said.

Compared to the countries of the Balkan Peninsula, Bulgaria ranks fifth in morbidity after Romania, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania and fourth in mortality after Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Romania.

“Growth in the EU based on weekly data is + 23%, which is absolutely equal to growth in Bulgaria. The only country with a negative trend is Denmark,” said Adjunct Professor Kunchev.

He clarified that Bulgaria is still in the area of the brightest orange color and there is no difference in the requirements of other countries for us when it comes to traveling. It is currently becoming clear why the UK continues to require a 14-day quarantine for Bulgarians arriving on the island, Dr Kunchev said.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Kostadin Angelov, assured that at the moment it is not necessary to introduce new measures in the country against the spread of the coronavirus.
