Initially, Bulgaria has declared to the European Commission an explicit refusal to include drug manufacturer Janssen Pharmaceutica NV in the Agreement for the purchase of vaccines. Subsequently, taking into account the uncertainty about the results of the clinical trials for the other vaccine applicants, a contract for the supply of COVID-19 vaccines was also signed by this pharmaceutical company.
The legal mechanism for receiving doses of this vaccine should be implemented through an agreement with another Member State to declare and provide Bulgaria with the requested quantities of the vaccine at the same price and under the same conditions that would be achieved by participating in the Agreement. After further clarification with the EC and the Kingdom of Sweden, as coordinator of the vaccine dose distribution process among member states, an agreement was reached on the respective quantity for Bulgaria, reports BTA.
