A young Plovdiv teacher claims he was fired from a Plovdiv school for insane reasons. This is the story of Ivan Kutsarov, a history student at Paisii Hilendarski University in Plovdiv. We publish it without editorial intervention
In July this year I finished my higher education at Plovdiv University “Paisii Hilendarski”. I always wanted to be a teacher and this summer I tried to fulfill my dream. Unsuccessfully. At the end of September I was contacted by a university professor who offered me to start working at Sofia University “St. Patriarch Evtimiy”, Plovdiv, as a professor of History and Civilizations he was seriously injured and is expected to be absent for a long time . I accepted. I started working after 2 days (October 1). I had already turned down several offers because I did not want to Work as a teacher for only 1 month Several people told me that I am expected to work at least until the New Year has passed 7 years of my education in the school in question.
A month passed imperceptibly. Everything was perfect. The students are wonderful (with a few exceptions). In just one month, I loved them very much and I was left with the impression that my criticisms are good and that I also like them and support me. I once again emphasize that several people on the pedagogical team told me that I will replace him at least until the new year.
On Wednesday October 28 I led the last class with IX class “d”. About the middle of the class, I told several of the students that they were breaking discipline in class. They explained to me that one of the girls in their class was sick. I told the girl that she was free to go and rest at home without writing a license. She refused and the class ended without further problems. After the end of the workday, I received videos uploaded to one of the social networks, showing the girl in question bent under the desk and drinking from a glass bottle of vodka.
The videos were uploaded by his classmates. They show everything: the room, the students, me. I decided there was no way I couldn’t act. The next day (at 1:30 pm) I contacted the assistant principal (Ms. Milena Tsvetanova) and the classroom teacher (Ms. Darina Nikolova). I explained everything and showed the videos. They understood me and said that things were not going to stay that way. An hour later, the deputy director contacted me and told me that the director was on the phone, Mrs. Valentina Stoencheva. I told him everything and he ended with the following words: “Tomorrow I’ll wait for you at school so that you can sign the document with which we give you freedom. The titular lady is back.”
Today (non-working day for teachers) I arrived at school at 11:00 am I met with the principal. She showed me a video from the camera in the room and said that I was to blame for what had happened. During the incident, I write the lesson plan on the board. He had to constantly monitor what the 26 people in the room were doing. He wrote down the names of the people involved in the incident.
He told me to sign that he was released. The teacher, who would be absent between 3 and 7 months, came back … And that was it. He did not thank me, he did not explain why they took me out, he did not tell me where my mistakes were and what things they liked or did not like. I also want to emphasize that to dedicate myself to teaching, I decided not to continue my education. Listening consisted of teaching at least until the new year, if all goes well.
So I chimed in with a very simple question: “Did what happened the other day have something to do with my release?” Mrs. Stoencheva was amazed. It was pretty ugly. He said yes. Said he was guilty again. He said there was no discipline in my classes.
Ten days ago, in my class, the principal and the assistant principal to check uniforms entered the IX class “a”. They were all in uniform. Discipline was normal, as always. This is the quietest and most hassle-free class (that I teach). Today he lied brutally, that discipline that day was shocking. He said he heard it in the hallway. A vile and disgusting lie. A LIE! I asked why they hadn’t told me then. There was no answer. Do they really eliminate any teacher who has trouble maintaining discipline for ONE hour? I know you know the answer.
Ms Stoencheva accused me yesterday of not participating in e-learning, which is true. On Wednesday, I was at work from 1:30 pm to 7:05 pm After that, I had an appointment. And teachers are people! They told me that the next day at 08:00 in the morning I had to teach online. I did not participate in teaching online because I do not have a desktop or laptop at home. I was not added to the required groups.
Mrs. Stoencheva told me that I was guilty. He had to ask for everything, he had to find them for everything. They couldn’t deal with 120 teachers. I accepted the facts. I took part of the blame. I said I was very guilty, but it was not complete. The crazy excuses continued again.
The director is my employer, my boss. I met my boss the day I was fired !!! Have you ever seen your bosses? Well, I didn’t have that pleasure. During today’s meeting, Ms Stoencheva showed fear of one thing: the videos that will appear in the media and people to get acquainted with them. She doesn’t care about me. She doesn’t care about education and students. He just wants the “authority” of the school to be preserved.
I didn’t want to get to that point, but it is inevitable. I’m such a person, I was raised that way. All my life I have struggled against injustice and suffering. Now I will suffer again. All kinds of methods will be used against me. I will be discredited in any way. I will be accused of all kinds of things that I am not. Things from my personal life will be used. It doesn’t bother me.
Right now I am very sick and sad. They didn’t give me the opportunity to say goodbye to my students !!! I don’t know how to tell them that we won’t see each other again. I’m ashamed to look into their eyes. They told me yesterday and today they kicked me out like a dirty dog. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the procedure in 2020 in the Republic of Bulgaria.
