Yesterday the name of the man who brutally beat Olivera Yevti at the start of the Sofia marathon on Sunday.

Boyan Vachev, or at least one person posing as him, sent his position to all the media on Monday night.

See the position of Vachev, accused of assault and deliberate attack on the Serbian woman, without editorial intervention:

“Dear Media Representatives:

Since you have mixed up my name in many hypotheses about a deliberate attack on a competitor, I want to use my right to reply by emphasizing that the collision was unintentional and that I had no selfish intentions.

I do not personally know the injured Olivera Jevtić and I want to use your high platform to offer my sincere apologies to her and her family for the trauma caused, which ultimately prevented her from fully participating in the event.

The public suspicions that I was financially motivated by a third party are completely false and deeply affected me, and reading the countless messages sent to me on the social network, I don’t think I deserved all this digital inquisition.

I am very sorry about the unfortunate situation and I ask everyone who is angry about the images to take my place for a moment and understand that the adrenaline was very high, and in combination with the weather conditions and lack of professional experience it was not difficult to play an important role in my lack of coordination. Actions at the beginning that led to the incident, the scale of which I learned long after it happened.

I hope that in the future the respected organization of Marathon Sofia will take into account the difference in the skills of amateurs and professionals, dividing them and giving a head start to the underdog. I wish Serbian athlete Jevtic a speedy recovery and a smooth career for everyone in the future. “
