Botev Plovdiv defeated Levski s twenty-one in Komatevo. The striker of the ‘yellowish’ Atanas Iliev gave an early advance for his team. Shortly after, the home team’s top scorer doubled the lead, but in the 27th minute Borislav Tsonev returned the intrigue with a penalty kick. In the second half, both teams showed a strong battle, but no more goals were scored and the “yellow-blacks” congratulated each other with three points. Despite the scandals that broke out during the week with the “Canaries”, they deservedly won the match.

The “yellow-blacks” started the game very aggressively. In the first minute of the game Atanas Iliev crossed on the right into the penalty area, where Filip Filipov was exposed. The defender tried to hit her head, but did not consider the flight of the ball and she passed it.
The hosts continued their pressure, which did not allow the “blues” to calmly take the ball from their field, which led to errors. In the 5th minute Jonathan broke down the right wing and crossed into the penalty area, where Mite Tsikarski hit the back post with his head, but Ivaylo Naidenov countered well and the ball was caught by Nikolay Mihailov.
In minute 8 Paulinho invaded the left wing. The Brazilian changed direction and ducked inside, after which he fired a solid shot, which hit Victor Genev’s body. The Blues demanded a penalty for playing with the hand of the defender of “Canarias”, but the main referee Georgi Dimitrov did not indicate the white point, although there were reasons to do so.
A minute later, Levski coach Georgi Todorov received unpleasant news after he was forced to replace Radoslav Tsonev, and Toma Daske appeared in his place.
In the 15th minute, Botev Plovdiv opened the scoring. The “Canaries” organized an excellent attack. Todor Nedelev passed Mite Tsikarski in the middle. The Macedonian continued with a concealed pass from behind the defense to Atanas Iliev. The striker took control and with a shot measured in the lower left corner he realized – 1: 0.
Five minutes later, Botev Plovdiv doubled his lead. Mateo Stamatov made a mistake on the left. The Canaries organized a quick counterattack, after which Slavcho Shokolarov uncovered Atanas Iliev on the edge of the penalty area. The forward took control and with a forceful shot in the left corner doubled the advantage of the “yellowish”.
After the initial clash, Levski tried to transfer the game to the Botev half. In the 23rd minute Stein Spearings struck into the penalty area, but was blocked. Minutes later Borislav Tsonev crossed from a corner kick into the penalty area, where Zhivko Atanasov tried to shoot, but received a pass to Paulinho, after which the Brazilian was overtaken by Georgi Argilashki.
In the 27th minute, Levski still received a penalty. Borislav Tsonev invaded the penalty area and was fouled by Filip Filipov, which was enough for Senior Judge Georgi Dimitrov to flag the white spot. The victim stood behind the ball and with a beautiful shot in the upper right corner reduced the score.
Definitely the “blues” began to dictate the actions in the field. In the 34th minute Borislav Tsonev crossed a free-kick, but it turned into a shot and Georgi Argilashki with one hand cleared decisively on a corner kick. The Levski striker also took the corner kick, after which Toma Daske shot his head, but directly into the hands of the “Canarios” goalkeeper.
A good attack from Botev followed. Slavcho Shtokolarov took control in the middle and decided to shoot alone, but his shot was very imprecise and the ball flew over the goal.
In the final minutes of the first half, the two teams exchanged a dangerous counterattack, but the defensive formations took care of the dangers. The final minutes were filled with nerves on and off the field, and twice the head referee Georgi Dimitrov had to calm both venues.
In added time in the first half, Nasiru Mohamed broke down the right wing and crossed into the penalty area, where Nigel Robertana hit the first crossbar, but the ball went through the left post.
During the break, Levski manager Georgi Todorov made another change to his team. Stanislav Ivanov replaced Nasiru Mohamed.
Botev Plovdiv made a better start again. After an error by Mateo Stamatov, a corner kick was reached for the “canaries”. Todoro Nedelev centered in the penalty area at the near post, where Slavcho Shokolarov shot with his head, but imprecisely.
In minute 48, the “yellowish” organized a good attack. Jonathan crossed from the right into the penalty area, where Alex Petkov crossed decisively, after which Atanas Iliev fouled Zhivko Atanasov.
The “Blues” became more active in attacking positions, but their attacks ended a bit in front of the Botev penalty area, which posed no danger from Georgi Argilashki.
In the 57th minute, Borislav Tsonev crossed from a corner kick, where Nigel Roberta on the first post shot with his head, but the ball went over the crossbar.
Minutes followed, in which nerves on the pitch took control again and Botev Plovdiv coach Ferrario Spasov received a yellow card to protest against the referee’s verdicts.
In the 63rd minute Levski was fouled in good position to shoot on goal from Georgi Argilashki. Borislav Tsonev shot from a direct free-kick, but the hosts’ goalkeeper also caught weakly.
Four later, the “yellow-blacks” organized a good attack. Stanislav Shopov passed Jonathan, who immediately crossed Atanas Iliev into the penalty area, but Alex Petkov crossed decisively.
In the 75th minute Paulinho broke down the left and entered the middle, after which he was fouled by Michel Espinosa. The referee Georgi Dimitrov called the infraction, but showed a yellow card to Jonathan, who was close to the situation. Given that he had decorated the hosts’ inner midfield, that would have meant he had to head to the locker room.
The minutes followed, in which both teams relied on the organization of quick attacks, in which the midfield was not used to a great extent and the attacks went from defense to attack.
In the 87th minute Slavcho Shokolarov shot from a distance, but very imprecisely and the ball went wide.
Two later, the “blues” had an excellent chance to equalize. Orlin Starokin passed Steven Petkov on the edge of the penalty area, who gracefully lowered his chest towards Stein Spearings. The Dutchman fired from the air, but Georgi Argilashki caught him decisively.
In the background of added time Christian Dobrev took the edge of the penalty area. The youngster controlled and fired into the far corner, but Nikolai Mihailov intervened decisively. This was the last action on the field.
