“I sincerely hope that the Republic of North Macedonia receives from us the necessary guarantees and progresses on the path towards accession to the European Union. The necessary commitments must be made, as many others have done. We have a duty that the present generations and future ones ensure that in no way should the Republic of North Macedonia, Albania and the Western Balkan countries be stopped on the road to the European Union, “said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov during his meeting with Foreign Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani.

During the conversation, Prime Minister Borissov noted that he was very concerned about the inclusion of UMO Ilinden and the “Macedonian minority” in Bulgaria in a political resolution in the European Parliament.

“This is in no way helpful at this very moment, when we are seeking a compromise, both for historians and for our political partners in the Republic of North Macedonia, to find a solution to the problem,” the prime minister added.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov noted that talks at all levels should start from today, so that by November 10, when Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia, as co-chairs of the Berlin Process, will chair the Summit, there may be a compromise solution that satisfies everyone.

“He has a lot of work to do, this is a very complex process, very fast and at the same time important and necessary,” insisted the Bulgarian Prime Minister.

“Its citizens should know that in Bulgaria they have and have always had the greatest support and that we only have to make history a bridge of friendship and closeness, not a broken bridge in which the Republic of North Macedonia cannot pass. that there should be no political games here, “Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said during the meeting.

According to him, perspective and timing are extremely important and it would be a sin in history if the current political leaders in Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia fail to reach a compromise.

“The world will not understand us either,” Prime Minister Boyko Borissov added.
