In the previous two years, the Bulgarian Prime Minister also participated in the context of the initiative’s summits, in London in 2018 and in Trieste in 2017. Prime Minister Borissov’s serious commitments to the initiative are a natural continuation from our country’s constant active policy towards the Western Balkans, as well as from the successful Bulgarian presidency of the EU Council in 2018, when Bulgaria managed to raise the issue. on the European perspective of the Western Balkans.

Today, the leaders of the Western Balkans, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron, Prime Ministers of Italy Giuseppe Conte, of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis, of Croatia Andrej Polravecch, of Slovenia Janez Janša. The current Sofia summit builds on the achievements of the previous six meetings in this format (in Berlin, Vienna, Paris, Trieste, London and Poznan) and confirms the role of the Berlin Process as a significant factor in optimizing regional cooperation across the light of the perspective of the countries of the region.
