Boyko Borissov is under inspection
Bulgarians should be proud of what is being done Prime Minister Boyko Borissov is being inspected again in the country. He is checking how the construction of the “Railway” tunnel is going. The inspection was broadcast live on the prime minister’s official Facebook profile. With Borissov are the Finance Minister, Kiril Ananiev, and the Deputy Minister, Nikolay Nankov. They inspected construction activities in the tunnel, built by GP Group, and said they were satisfied with the progress of the Struma Expressway. GP Group has managed to complete the last 50 meters of the tunnel in just one week and it has been completely dug.
From the words of the ministers and Borissov it was clear that a lane will be ready in September.
“We are already in the middle of a pipeline. It can go through both pipes. Honor and glory to the Bulgarian builders, for their ability and capabilities,” the Prime Minister praised the workers.
The tunnels are made with the greatest precision. The rocks were soft and difficult to process. “Extremely complex rock. This whole section is very complex,” Borissov added.
The “Railroad” tunnel is made with the most modern technology, and in case of fire or accident, people will be able to go to the other pipe, since there are entrances between the pipes.
This is the longest road tunnel in the Balkans. The length of the two pipes is more than 2 km, noted Nikolay Nankov. He added that the tunnel is being built using the Austrian method. There is also a helipad if extreme situations arise. The construction of the site is financed with European funds.
All large tunnels must be repaired to meet all European requirements, Boyko Borissov said.
He recalled that the Struma Highway should have been ready for the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
Money should be set aside to repair all tunnels and build emergency exits as needed, he added.
Nankov explained today that these are the latest European requirements for connecting tunnel sleeves.
Finance Minister Kiril Ananiev added that the control is serious and there are no complaints.
“Work, work, work,” Borissov said, urging workers to be careful.
The builders noted that a lot of work had been done.
“But you enjoy watching now. The communists don’t like it. They are bothering you, they may even protest here now,” Borissov said. The Prime Minister clarified that there is internet in the tunnels.
“A huge facility,” Borissov said, explaining that there were millions of tons of rock. The space between the pipes was only 1 cm.
The prime minister ordered the manager to hand out a bonus to the workers by March 3. “That’s how I love it. It was the mountain. Now you look at the tunnels and bridges,” Borissov said. According to him, Bulgarians should be proud of what is being done.
