You have all our confidence and thank you for your tireless work. I sincerely hope to have an agreement before the end of the year, said the Prime Minister.
On the issue of the adoption of the MFF and the recovery package, Borissov insisted that no further delays should be allowed.
The pandemic has put our health systems and national economies to the test. That is why it is extremely important to reach an agreement. There should be no obstacles to Europe’s rapid recovery, he noted and reiterated that Bulgaria supports the commitment of European funds to the rule of law.
The Prime Minister expressed his hope that the issue will be closed during the German Presidency of the Council of the EU, which ends at the end of 2020.
EPP leaders also discussed progress in supplying COVID-19 vaccines.
I believe that the European Medicines Agency and the European Commission will approve the first vaccines as soon as possible and we can start immunization. In Bulgaria, we are ready to receive vaccines today. I hope that with them we will return to a normal way of life faster, said Prime Minister Borissov.
Another topic that was the focus of the talks was climate change and the Green Deal. The Prime Minister stressed that our country supports the EC’s search for a green transformation.
For us, this is a challenge, but also a great opportunity to make our economy more innovative and environmentally friendly. Of course, we will count on the support of the EC to ensure a smooth, fair and socially tolerable transition, concluded Boyko Borissov.
