Prime Minister Boyko Borissov inspected the interconnector between Bulgaria and Greece, through which Azeri gas will now pass. He was accompanied by the Minister of Energy, Temenuzhka Petkova, the Minister Kiril Ananiev, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan Nargiz Gurbanova and representatives of Burgasgas and Bulgartrangaz.

The Prime Minister explained that today there is total diversification in Bulgaria. He stated that all the interconnectors in the country were implemented during his mandate.

“What we have been able to do so far has not been done. It is not easy and requires great efforts,” Petkova said.

Azerbaijan’s gas supply will lead to a possible January price reduction, said the director of Bulgargaz, who was also on inspection.

The Prime Minister noted that the pandemic has created difficult conditions for all countries in the world.

“With Minister Ananiev, we did everything possible to balance spending and business support, buying vaccines, to keep increasing income and money for retirees,” Borissov said.

“I want to say that the socio-economic measures plan adopted by the government has had a positive impact on the end of the financial year 2020. Although we were blamed for this budget, we ended the year with a deficit of more than BGN 3 billion. This is 3% of gross domestic product, ”Ananiev reported.

The Prime Minister boasted that the crisis surrounding the pandemic in Bulgaria was properly managed due to the balance achieved, taking into account that our country has the lowest deficit in Europe.

“Bulgaria also has one of the lowest debts; we are currently in second place after Estonia,” added the finance minister.

“Someone should come out and say that we are irresponsible, that this was a waste. I have never seen so much incompetence in one place,” the prime minister told critics.
