Our country will receive 29,000 million euros from the European Union to face the damages and consequences of the pandemic. “It is about BGN 60,000 million that will reach our country in the coming years, of which BGN 50,000 million are subsidies,” Prime Minister Borissov announced during the inspection of the construction and repair works of the Trakia highway.
For the first time for Bulgaria, the EU is forecasting such a significant amount to recover from the crisis caused by the pandemic. According to Prime Minister Borissov, this will ensure that whatever government there is after the elections, the country’s investment program will not stop. On this subject, Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev briefed the Prime Minister on the progress of our country in the preparation of the Bulgarian Reconstruction and Sustainability Plan.
He noted that Bulgaria is among the fastest moving countries and this will allow the money to be available for businesses as soon as possible. The new version of the Plan has already been published after public discussions and consultations. “The good news is that especially for business there are new 900 million levs in three funds, in addition to the 800 million that remain from the first version of the plan. We anticipate that this money will be available in Bulgaria as soon as possible, if possible by the middle of this year, “Donchev said.
The deputy prime minister added that in the next 5 years Bulgaria will be able to double the volume of public investments in infrastructure, railways, digital connectivity, energy efficiency, but above all direct investments for companies.
Prime Minister Borissov inspected the repair of a 17-kilometer stretch of the Trakia highway, located between the connection with the Maritsa highway and the Chirpan-Iztok highway junction. “Let people see that the Trakia highway facilities are compromised and unfortunately we are building a new highway. When they opened this part, Stanishev was prime minister, Gagauzov-minister, what were they talking about. But let’s not blame the” Because it’s theirs. It is important that we do it and that it is safe for the people, “Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said.
The construction activities are part of the phased repair of a committed 40-kilometer route on the road between Stara Zagora and Chirpan. Along the route of the Trakia road, the road construction is being restored, the base is being stabilized, the asphalt pavement is being replaced, 9 large facilities are being renovated, drainage is being improved and landscaping is being done.
The highest class guardrail will be installed in the section between the two lanes, which would prevent heavy vehicles from entering the opposite lane. These investments in road safety are extremely important for the safety of travelers. Road repair is of great importance to improve transport connectivity in Bulgaria. Construction activities in this section must be completed by the end of March 2021.
