British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will announce the new system of stricter local restrictions in England tonight after the end of the total lockdown on December 2. Meanwhile, all four parts of the UK – England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland – have endorsed plans to allow individual families to communicate for a few days during the Christmas holidays.
Today in the House of Commons Johnson will present the next government plans in the fight against the pandemic after December 2. People are most excited about Christmas, and according to preliminary reports, up to three families will be able to spend five days together during the holidays.
The Prime Minister’s Office said the leaders of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland had approved such a measure. In England, however, after the end of the total quarantine, stricter restrictions will take effect in several places, and details of which area will be quarantined on the three-point scale will be announced on Thursday.
However, evening hours for restaurants are expected to decrease. MPs will vote on the new scheme before the full quarantine expires on December 2.
Some 70 lawmakers from the prime minister’s Conservative Party have said they will not support the measures unless there is convincing evidence that the quarantine is working.
