One of the most embarrassing things of 2020 was the Bulgarian National Television’s New Years program. BNT
Let’s face it, if the screen said “Guess the year,” everyone would say 92nd.
A horrible amalgamation of television theater, folklore, empty conversations at decorative tables and silly sketches. Apparently driven by the idea of giving “everyone something”, BNT had mixed such a pot, as if Bear Grylls had cooked something in “Survival of the Border.”
A show that illustrates our retrograde and kitsch. Even a parrot would watch this show in amazement and wonder, pondering how far laziness had come, tapping its beak against the metal rods of its cage.
The pandemic and related restrictions will undoubtedly give BNT a high rating, but don’t let that fool you. When they give hell on television, it is normal for people to take a look.
A more boring program than the new constitution.
