A fire broke out at the Blagoevgrad Home for the Elderly shortly before 11 o’clock. All residents of the social institution were evacuated and taken to a safe place. The fire started from one of the rooms in the house and, according to firefighters, the alleged cause is a short circuit.

The 79 residents and staff were evacuated. One person was slightly injured. He was taken to the Blagoevgrad hospital with minor burns and was not life threatening.
“The fire is currently being extinguished. The fire started from a room on the top floor of the building. The most likely cause is electricity. There is absolutely no danger to humans. They were all eliminated thanks to timely intervention by staff and strangers, “said the director of the Population Fire Safety and Protection Service Georgi Parmakov.
