The number of funerals in November has increased dramatically. We are reporting a black record at our work, which is sad, but a fact. This was stated by the director of OP “Funeral Activities” Kosta Popov to a reporter from Plovdiv24.bg.

He compared deaths in November for the past five years to November 2020, with burials for the month then no more than 10 per day, now reaching 19-20. The sites of the Central and Dragan Cemeteries are already occupied, with the exception of the Rogos Cemetery, where there are still vacant lots.

“Our system is very busy, we are dealing with it so far, but if the number is exceeded, we will postpone the funerals to the next day,” said Director Popov.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, interest in cremation has increased, and relatives of COVID-19 victims have preferred that their remains be cremated. There are still places for this type of service, as it includes 4 options of urns: some people collect the dust of their loved ones to spread it, others place the urns on a grave. The other two options are placed in an urn grave or urn wall.

Once upon a time, a wall of urns, in which 160 urns were collected, filled up in a year, now it takes about 4 months.

In traditional burials, the bodies of those killed by coronavirus are packaged, biocided, and placed in special coffins.
