Biden won with 306 voters and Trump with 232

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has the backing of 306 members of the Electoral College, who will formally elect the new president. Republican President Donald Trump has secured the support of 232 voters, major US media outlets, including CNN and NBC, reported today, quoted by AFP.

The Electoral College has a total of 538 members.

The main US media announced Biden as the winner in the state of Georgia and Trump, in North Carolina.

In Georgia, a recount of manual ballots is underway, as the difference in favor of the Democrat is only 14,000 votes. However, Biden is expected to win in the southern state, which has 16 voters, DPA notes.

TASS recalls that Georgia is basically a Republican stronghold. The last time a Democrat won the presidential election was in 1992 (Bill Clinton), and before that only Jimmy Carter had triumphed in the state (in 1976 and 1980).

Trump wins in North Carolina, traditionally a Republican stronghold. This provides him with the support of 15 more voters.

Major US media announced Biden as the winner of the November 3 presidential election on Saturday. However, Trump alleges alleged fraud to his detriment and refuses to admit defeat.

Interestingly, the distribution of voters is exactly the same as in the previous US presidential elections, but vice versa, according to DPA. Four years ago, Trump received the support of 306 voters and the Democrat Hillary Clinton – 232.

In 2016, the Republican described his victory as one of the greatest in modern history, a claim that is not true, DPA notes.

Meanwhile, Trump has almost admitted that he will likely have to leave the White House, world agencies reported.

Joe Biden was declared the winner of this month’s election, but Trump refuses to acknowledge his victory. His lawyers have unsuccessfully challenged the results in court.

“This administration will not introduce isolation measures,” Trump said when announcing plans to distribute the newly developed coronavirus vaccine.

“We hope that whatever happens in the future, who knows what the administration will be, I suppose time will tell. But I can tell you that this administration will not introduce isolation measures,” he said.

Trump said that two different coronavirus vaccines could be approved by the end of the year and 20 million doses could be distributed next month.

The president added that the vaccines will not be available for New York, where Governor Andrew Cuomo questioned the approval process for the vaccine used by federal authorities and said he wanted a check from local sources.

“So we are not sending it to New York until we get permission to do so,” Trump said.

The US president added that all citizens will be able to get vaccinated in April, Reuters notes.

Biden has already begun the process of handing over power, although the White House refuses to cooperate, recalls DPA.
