US President Joe Biden has said his country will never accept Russia’s annexation of the Crimean peninsula in Ukraine, world news agencies reported.
“The United States does not accept and will never accept the annexation of the peninsula, we are on the side of Ukraine in the face of aggressive actions by Russia,” said the US president on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the illegal annexation of the Ukrainian peninsula.
“The United States stands with Ukraine, its allies and partners today, as it has done since the beginning of this conflict. On the day of this grim anniversary, we reaffirm a simple truth: Crimea is Ukraine,” Biden added in a statement. Russian troops annexed Crimea in 2014. At the same time, the Kremlin supported separatists in eastern Ukraine, where the war still continues. The international community does not recognize Crimea as Russian territory.
