The leadership of the Bulgarian Football Union announced after today’s meeting of the Executive Committee that the signature of Hristo Portochanov is illegitimate, and there were even forgeries. As is known, one of the candidates for the new presidency of the Bulgarian Football Union submitted a request to hold a congress on April 30.
For this he had to present valid signatures of 1/3 of the member clubs of the Bulgarian Football Union. It turned out that 121 of the 551 clubs had signed the petition, so the date of the congress was still June 25.
The Bulgarian Football Union explained that they had carried out an inspection, which found that some clubs had signed twice, and others on Portochanov’s list had not been members of the local football headquarters for years.
“The subscription is illegitimate,” Yordan Lechkov said after the executive committee meeting.
“So far I have not seen anyone run for the presidency of the Bulgarian Football Union,” he added, adding that he did not intend to head the national football team and once again stressed that Borislav Mihailov’s requested resignation was a error.
